Whereas conventional 2D image recognition was largely limited to capturing visual information, 3D depth sensing has now become an essential technology, enabling real-time measurement of spatial depth to identify the three-dimensional shape and distance of objects.

 

At the center of this shift is Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology. By calculating distance based on the time it takes for light to strike an object and return, ToF offers a simpler structure and higher precision than conventional stereo camera or structured light approaches. Built on a compact structure composed of VCSEL, RX sensor, diffuser, and lens, the MCNEX ToF camera module supports both 1-channel and 2-channel ToF configurations. Based on current development status, the module offers VGA-class resolution, a wide field of view of up to 101.1° horizontal / 83.3° vertical / 121.1° diagonal, and sensing capability across 3m to 7m. This gives customers greater flexibility when designing products for different spatial recognition environments and performance requirements.

 

In addition, the 1-channel ToF lineup includes options such as 85.1°(H) × 69.0°(V) × 98.9°(D) and 100.1°(H) / 83.3°(V) / 121.1°(D) with support for 3m and 5m sensing ranges, while the 2-channel ToF configuration supports 101.1°(H) / 83.3°(V) / 121.1°(D) with 3m and 7m sensing capability.
